The over exploitation of the aquifer, the diminishment of the phreatic levels, the problems with water quality, the disappearance of springs and wetlands as well as the decrease of flowing rivers, are a severe reality that needs to be known and addressed.
Enjoy a theatrical performance about the water problems in the region written by local activist and environmentalist, Diana Hoogesteger. This event is organized by the municipality and a recently formed coalition of nonprofits working together to resolve these issues.
The coalition is called Agua Vida and consists of the following organizations:
Caminos de Agua, Casita Linda, Ojalá Niños, Patronato Pro Niños, Club Rotario, Rotary, el Maíz Más Pequeño, Vía Orgánica, Sociedad Audubon de Mexico, Salvemos al Río Laja, Amigos de la Presa, Feed the Hungry, el Charco del Ingenio, Municipality of San Miguel de Allende.
